About Cafe Europa
Cafe Europa is located in historic Olde Towne Portsmouth, VA and has been pleasing guests since 1986. Our menu changes regularly and features fresh local ingredients that create a flavor experience to remember. We boast a delectable assortment of desserts, and fine wines from around the world.
Michael was born the youngest of 6 in a rural, agricultural area of Czechoslovakia in 1957. When he was 11, his sister escaped the communist held country during the Velvet Revolution. She went on a trip to Austria and never came back. After playing professional soccer for several teams, he too managed to make his way to the US. He moved to New York to live with his sister where he began playing soccer and working in her restaurant. Michael moved to Portsmouth n 1986 and opened his restaurant, Cafe Europa. Within a few years it was an award winning dining experience that has been a jewel of the city for over 30 years.
